[It's the middle of summer and they're stuck house sitting. Their dad is away for the whole month.... Not really that unusual, he's always away on business. And their mom has been gone for a long while now. So it's just him, in charge of taking care of things, and his brother.

And the heat. Noel flops on the couch next to his little brother and groans, passing over a soda. It's already evening but the heat just doesn't let up. It really saps the strength out of Noel, but what it also does is... Well.

It's difficult being a teenager and gay and alone in a house with your brother who is actually really hot and you absolutely should not find attractive because he's your brother, and so as usual Noel slides his eyes away from his brother quickly after passing him the soda. Dinner was about half an hour ago so there's nothing left to do but sort of melt together in this heat.]

It's too hot to live. Revive me when it's November.

[kind of popcorns, letting him.] Ah. I guess I should explain that not all magic comes in this sort of form. Mine is a string game because that works for me personally for several reasons, but a lot of magics are like... making potions and demon summoning and stuff. It's pretty variable.

Why string though?

The only answer you're gonna get is me dissing myself so, you know, there's your warning.

Can you try without putting yourself down?

[amurdermostfowl]

Uh. [give him a minute to carefully try and pick out words. in the meantime he pulls another pattern as if to keep his hands busy.] I guess it... comes down to the way I process things? One part affecting another affecting another, but all within control if you understand enough. But all part of the same whole, as well.

[plotluck]

So... complex.

[He tries to tug on the string again, still finding it difficult to work with.]

And I'll learn how to make magic work for me in ways that make sense to me?

[amurdermostfowl]

Yeah. And that part's not something I can really coach you on. [he's starting to visibly run out of caffeine though.]

[plotluck]

Okay... We can talk about the rest tomorrow. You look worn out.

[amurdermostfowl]

[lets his magic threads fade and pillows his head on his crossed arms. you are his bed now.] I was planning to go straight to bed after casting...

[plotluck]

Yeah, get some sleep. [Wraps his arms around cute little brother who is also, apparently, a fucking ancient angel or something.]

[cool, cool. znnk.]

[plotluck]

[He'll close his own eyes and settle in to sleep like this, content with Rowan in his arms. And somewhere, far away, something catches scent of them and starts to search. But anyway they'll wake up like this and not even be that sore, since teenage boys.]

[amurdermostfowl]

[it's one thing to wake up sharing your brother's bed, even naked and cuddling, but it's another to wake up in the relative open of the living room, using him as a pillow. he doesn't move, though, instead drowsily watching him sleep and mulling over the previous night.]

[plotluck]

[Not like anyone is going to be home to see them at least. This is nice though, and Noel sort of starts waking up only when the awareness of being stared at starts to filter in.] Hm?

[amurdermostfowl]

[it's still different, somehow.]

Morning.

[plotluck]

Morning. [Just wait until we get past college and share an apartment.] Get enough sleep?

[amurdermostfowl]

[maybe by then he'll be used to the idea.]

Mmhm. You?

[he says, then leans in to kiss him without really giving him time to answer.]

[plotluck]

Yeah-- [Well he starts to respond but okay kissing. Kissing is nice. He tangles his fingers in Rowan's hair with easy familiarity.]

[he's been managing to be a little less desperate in degrees as he gets used to the idea of them being like this, but this time is one of the first truly lazy sleepy kisses without it feeling like he's half expecting Noel to try and escape.]

[plotluck]

[This is nice... Lazy morning kiss that doesn't seem half panicked is really nice. He definitely indulges in it, languid and unhurried.]

[amurdermostfowl]

[yessssss. he lets it break off naturally, then just sort of looks at Noel languidly, still sharing the same air.]

[plotluck]

Hey. That was nice. [This is very nice?]

[amurdermostfowl]

Yeah. I think I'm starting to calm down a bit.

[plotluck]

Never realized how tense you were all the time in the first place. [though he guesses that'd be hard if he was literally just born tense.]

[amurdermostfowl]

Well, it's not like you had much to compare it with. I just seemed like that kind of guy, right?
